Spring/ Summer 2016 Hairstyles - Wigs & Hairpieces

There weren't that many wigs on the catwalks this season, but I did find a few (Moschino, Gareth Pugh), and some hair pieces, too (Chanel).

 Starting with Moschino, their Ready-To-Wear collection was car-wash themed and it featured 90's inspired pixie cut wigs blonde and brunette wigs. The hair designer, Tom Pecheux said: “Think back to the 90s, when the supermodels were the stars. Think Cindy, Linda, Naomi ... and they all wore make-up.”

Choppy bowl-cut wigs, in various colours, were sported at Moschino which some speculate were inspired by 90s-era supermodel Linda Evangelista. Makes sense to us. The makeup features feline flicks of liquid liner and a soft brown lip. Throwback!

 Then at Jeremy Scott's show hairstylist Eugene Suleiman applied 60's inspired wigs that were full of volume and bounce. 

 How they created the look: 

 Rather than pin curling, braiding or wrapping the hair underneath the wig, they tied the hair into a sleek high ponytail then put a donut around it. This helped with the volume. Then, before backombing the hair they curled it and pinned until the barrel curls had cooled and set.

60s silhouettes ruled at Jeremy Scott in New York where makeup artist Kabuki was inspired by Amy Winehouse to draw winged eyelashes on the models using three MAC eyeliners. The bouffant-style wigs (as modelled by Gigi Hadid) were as cartoony as the collection.

Next we have a 1930's inspired from Georgio Armani Prive SS16 collection where models wore black wigs and at Georgio Armani they had blonde side fringe (hair pieces).

Still in the process of research, but I am trying to find a way how to incorporate a wig into my looks, most likely it will be for my advert or editorial. I want to keep my catwalk looks a bit more simpler and easy to wear in the summer.
I really liked the braided hair pieces at Chanel.
