Editorial Day Look | Inspiration, Face & Hair Charts

Glowing, really highlighted and bronzed, almost wet looking skin, glossy and metalic (maybe glossy) eyes and natural, possibly messy brows - this is my idea for the editorial day look. As the story is that she just got out of the sea, her hair will be wet, or semi wet, slicked, beachy and/ or messy.

Two products that I will be using in this look, no matter if I didn't put them down in face charts as they are liquid are The Wow Glow Liquid Tan by Seventeen and Johnson's Baby Oil but will be used no matter what face chart I choose to do as they complete any look. The liquid tan is not very dark when applied in only one layer, but I tested up to three layers and took a video of what the product looks when three layers are applied. I might mix it with foundation, then apply as bronzer over it. The amount of layers and product depends on the model's natural skin tone as I don't want her to end up looking muddy. The product is easy to blend however lines could occour when not blended properly so I need to be careful.
Not only that the baby oil smells amazing and makes the skin super soft and not too oil as it is for babies, but it works very well on top of foundation as it doesn't move the product around. It sits nicely on top of foundation, but moves powder products. I tested it and took photos of what it looks like on the skin with and without foundation. I also took a video to show how shiny it makes the skin look (without foundation.
I will be appling both products on models neck, ears, collar bones and shoulders for a more realistic natural glow and shine.

Makeup Inspiration

Here are some images of inspiration for the look that I had described above. In my designs I have mostly focused on blue tones on the eyes as I think it reflect the sea but the blue is also one of the SS16 trends. The blue and silver combination I initially got from the Abalone shells, which I talked about in my inspiration video, but I experimented with other shades such as pink and rose gold too.

Hairstyle Inspiration

As I already said, the hair will be wet looking, which will be achieved with gel and water. It might be slicked back, maybe messy with beach waves or some sort of swirls, messy fingerwaves sort of look around the face or hair falling over. Maybe in a low pony tail or with braids, I included the two elements in hair charts however I think that the two elements would go better with my evening look as it is a bit more elegant.

1st Hairstyle

Centre parting, hair behind the ears, straight, wet look.

1st Hairstyle

2nd Hairstyle

Hair slicked from one side to another, flat, gelled.

2nd hairstyle

3rd Hairstyle

Hair combed back, gelled and styled with sea salt spray, looks half dry and messy.
Then the other version of the look is to have it super sleek and wet. For both looks I'd put the hair behind the ears.

3rd Hairstyle - messy
3rd Hairstyle - neat, sleek

4th Hairstyle

Side parting, hair slicked into two low pony tails at the nape of the neck.

4th Hairstyle

5th Hairstyle

As I put on the drawing, this look is a very simple wet look with a centre parting. Hair combed straight - fringe infront of the ears, framing (slightly covering) the face, and the rest at the back.

5th Hairstyle

6th Hairstyle

Wet straight hair with sectioned fringe basically gelled to the forehead, not exactly fingerwaves, just little wavy sections. Side parting.

6th Hairstyle

7th Hairstyle

Hairstyle same as the one above, just with a middle parting.

7th Hairstyle

8th Hairstyle
8th Hairstyle  - front
8th Hairstyle - back

9th Hairstyle

Swirls created around the face with baby hair (if model hasn't got any then fringe). With centre parting hair slicked (wet) back into a low braid.

9th Hairstyle  - front
9th Hairstyle  - back

10th Hairstyle

Side parting, fringe styled into finger waves, wet look, beachy hair.

10th Hairstyle

11th Hairstyle

Semi wet hair and beachy waves, middle section of the fringe slicked back.

11th Hairstyle

12th Hairstyle

Wet straight hair slicked behind the ears; a section from the back coming accros the face, also wet and gelled.
12th Hairstyle

13th Hairstyle

Messy updo created with hair that was previously styled into beach waves then pinned up, sections falling on the sides.

13th Hairstyle

14th Hairstyle

Messy side parting, hair going away from the face with some waves on the top (finger waves or could be created with wet beachy curls). Rest of the hair messy, beachy.

15th Hairstyle

Similar to the look above; messy beachy hair going away from the face - three sections falling across one side of the face.

Here I just played around while my hair was wet after washing it. This is the sort of look you get at the beach most often - semy dry, wavy (well my hair is mostly straight here but it goes wavy from sea salt) and with a messy hair line. I don't think I will have too much hair over the face as NARS prefer cleaner looks with the hair away from the face. Still thinking, I think we might to finger waves for our tech files which is why I created some hair charts with those looks but I had never done them before.
