Advert Day & Night | Inspiration & Face Charts

When I was posting inspiration and hair & face charts for my editorial and catwalk looks I separated each look into a different post. However, with my advert I decided to combine all of my make up inspiration together since the hair is going to be the same. The make up looks I will be creating in for my adverts will be very clean and glowing; golden, bronzed skin featuring a classic red lip! I will be focusing on the highlight/ bronzer and lipstick and eyes will be covered with the wig, meaning, no eye make up.

This is a beautiful image shot by Francois Nars for Vogue Korea July 2013. The net over the model's face in a way reminded me of my advert idea because it, even though it is very thin, acts as a mask. I also really like how the eyes are centered within each gap. She looks like a fish in a fisherman's net to me, but since the background is blue I would assume that is what the idea was. I don't think that the background, the sea, is real. I think that the look was shot in the studio and the sea was placed in post production.
This is the kind of facial expression I want for my lipstick advert.

It can be really hard to show products such as highlighters on paper. I decided to take photos of some products; highlighters, bronzers, eyeshadows, etc. to show what they actually look like. They all look very similar on paper which results in most of the face charts looking alike, when actually the products are different. Also, some of the bluses, such as the ones from my LaRoc palette or Revolution, don't have any names so I want to show you which ones I'm refering to in my face charts. 

I've tried to apply some products with a wet brush, so they are quite intense in certain face charts. The colours came out nicer, but it was a lot harder to blend them.

I took a photo of the face chart before putting down all the products, I didn't use just the bronzer, you may be able to see the layers of products, but this is the reason I've taken photos of the products because it was had to get some of them on paper and then on camera.

It is hard to create looks without the eyes, expecially because eyes are the feature that I like to do on people the most. Eyes can definitely brighten up the face more than any other highlighter. That is why I am hiding them and bringing the focus to the cheek bones and lips.

 When you think about it, all the looks I created with the highlighter idea in mind, if I added red lip colour it can be turned into the look for the lipstick advert. Simple day to night transformation. I don't think that using eyeshadows as bronzers is a bad thing, Nars always mentions how it is about mixing and experimenting with different products, they have multiple sticks in their range after all. Beth suits warm bronze colours, and I always look at colours and not whether is says 'eyeshadow' or 'blush' on the product. 

I really like the 9th face chart for the lip advert but I will create another face chart and add some highlight to it. That is the one I will be bringing to the shoot with me most likely. 

For the highlighter, I like lip colours where I've added some bronze or golden pigment as it makes the lips pop. The lip colour in the shade LCP694 (Kryolan) would work very nicely as it is a beautiful warm, bronze/ brown shade and the highlight I will use is the gold pigment because it is most pigmented and would probably work best with my models skin tone. 

My final looks will be posted in another post that I will probably call 'Final Advert Face Charts' or something along those lines.
